Peace is not always beautiful
And chaos is not always ugly
The world seem to be so chaotic. Who is responsible for this?
We all know it. Yet , we try to find peace in every chaos we are responsible for.
Peace is beautiful. It is harmony and freedom. It is tranquility. I have always supported peace. Always preferred it over chaos. And I thought I was right. Right in doing so coz I thought chaos is all about destruction and pain and hurt and loss.
But maybe I was wrong in judging chaos only one way. Based on its worldly description and perception. In the pursuit of doing so I forgot to look at its other side. I overlooked the side that was beautiful and judged it as plain disaster.
Not until he explained to me the other aspects of these two – peace and chaos.
He asked me “Do you like peace or chaos?”
“Peace of course!” Prompt came my reply.
He said he likes chaos. And then he went on to explain why. He made me realise that even though peace is all about calmness but sometimes it is so quiet it give rise to differences ; and even though chaos is destruction , it give rise to unity.
Now that is the beautiful part I overlooked. That is where I committed the mistake of judging the book by its cover. He explained it to me citing the example of Kashmir floods a few years ago. He explained how , even people who had differences , came together in that tragic situation to help each other. He said, “I like chaos because it brings people closer.” And I couldn’t agree more.
I was engulfed in the clouds of occhiholism. That was the day I looked at peace and chaos differently.
Asif Shabir Dar , now if you ask me which one would I prefer , probably I would reply , “Any of the two that brings people closer.”
Smart and diplomatic one yeah! I know .. you got me right.
PS – This one’s for you… Not just for any SOMEBODY.
